Fight With Your Fingers In This Roguelike Deckbuilder

From the minds of two independent developers, Pluto invites players into a darkly comic journey through cursed ruins and forgotten crypts — where the world is deadly serious, but your wizard just wants to get to his niece’s birthday.

Blending the strategic deckbuilding of modern roguelikes with the tactile experimentation of games like Balatro and Inscryption, Pluto reimagines what it means to “play your hand.” Instead of simply choosing cards, players weave elemental patterns — overlapping gestures that combine into unpredictable spell recipes.

The result is a system that rewards quick thinking and creativity: every turn is a miniature puzzle of timing, synergy, and risk.

The Demo Experience

The Pluto demo showcases the game’s core loop — its spellcasting system, item interactions, and enemy design — in a roughly 40-minute vertical slice. Players will experience the opening segment of a run, with about 40% of the full game’s scope and access to the first playable character.

While the full version will feature multiple characters, longer runs, and richer worldbuilding, this demo focuses on the fundamentals that define Pluto’s identity: expressive spellcraft, tactical combat, and a tone that balances the grim with the absurdly mundane.

A Serious World with a Frivolous Quest

The creatures and dungeons of Pluto are drawn in stark, hand-illustrated detail — every encounter feels dangerous and weighty. But the wizard’s mission undercuts that intensity in all the best ways. You’re not saving the world. You’re just trying to be a good uncle.

It’s gory, but never grim — the kind of world where you blow someone’s head off with a lightning-fueled ice cube and then sigh about forgetting to buy a present.

What Awaits in the Full Game

  • 8+ playable characters, each redefining the spellcasting system

  • 5+ ascension levels for escalating difficulty

  • One-hour runs designed for replayability and mastery

  • Expanding lore told through item flavor and world details

Developed by two co-creators sharing all duties, with art by DitchWitch and creative consultation shaping the game’s systems and tone.

The Pluto demo is available now on Steam.
