Air Hares Launches Today on Steam

January 14, 2026 — Air Hares, a retro-inspired top-down shooter from husband-and-wife development team Tim and Megan Bungeroth, is available today on Steam.

Developed over six years with the support of an international group of freelance programmers, artists, and musicians, Air Hares stars Captain Rabbo, a daring pilot on a mission to protect and grow the carrot crops of Winrose while evading the Gale Gang’s falcon goons.

Inspired by the creators’ personal journey with infertility and the idea of creating life rather than destroying it, Air Hares puts a nurturing twist on classic “bullet hell” action, blending fast-paced aerial gameplay with farming mechanics and environmental challenges.

About the Game

Air Hares is a retro-style top-down shooter where players seed and water carrot fields while dodging enemies across four stages, each featuring three farming levels and a boss encounter. Mastery of aerial maneuvers such as barrel rolls, parries, and loop-de-loops is essential as enemy patterns intensify and dynamic weather - including wind, rain, and lightning - adds additional challenge.

The game also features a co-op mode, allowing a second player to join as Dirk Doggo, Captain Rabbo’s loyal canine companion. While approachable for younger players, Air Hares is designed to be enjoyed by players of all ages, making it an easy pick-up-and-play experience for families without sacrificing depth.
